Filippo Pisan, creative director of De Castelli, tells us how this piece of furniture inspired by the armors of the ancients samurai was made.

Filippo can you tell us about this project?

This piece of furniture was designed by Alessandro Masturzo, who one day came to visit us with images inspired by the world of the Samurai. The armour of the Samurai, called “yoroi” were once made of metal scales and from this inspiration we began the project.

The scales on the skin of this mobile container strongly characterise its appearance. It’s a dynamic form, which takes up the evocative power of a Déco decor, in equilibrium between minimalism and wonder.
