Sauna built in 2020 on Smådalarö in the Stockholm archipelago.
The house is a variation of a traditional boathouse with its large roof.
In addition to the sauna, the building contains storage and a workshop. Under the roof there is an area for storing boat equipment during the cold season. The building is made of untreated pine which in time will turn grey.
The cliff on which the house stands slopes steeply towards the sea. In the autumn at high tide, the sea reaches all the way up to the house’s pole base. The windows of insulating glass are glued to the facade without frame and secured with brass fittings. The exposed position where the wind gust is sometimes extremely hard has led to a construction of continuous bolt joints.
