Punta Ixtapa is a project located in Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, which is carefully inserted into the site and its surroundings; the design guidelines were initial, taking full advantage of the topography of the land, views, vegetation, cross ventilation, natural light and orientation. From the analysis and consideration of each of these elements, a series of spaces were articulated according to an architectural program, which have a direct contact with the exterior, seeking privacy with the neighbors.
The orientation of each space was an important factor to consider the solar incidence, for it, the different covers and the use of sliding lattices allow besides greater privacy, create shaded spaces that give a greater comfort; that is why an integral part of this project is the design of the landscape, which generates a marked transition between building and nature.
The main area of the house and coexistence visually extends to the sea, the warm climate of the region allows to open the spaces and do without enclosures in this area, which allows to enjoy the open air and the vegetation that surrounds / frames it; this space is achieved by a metal structure and wood that make up a pergola, which gives it warmth and integrates an aesthetic with the place. The various sunken rooms generated with the topography of the place create different environments related to each other with the environment.
The materiality of the house was chosen to have a congruence with this area of the Mexican Pacific; materials such as Tepeaca marble, wood, parota and stone from the region were searched. “Many times, the structural solution can come to rule everything and if you hide it, you fall into the coating.” The house exposes the structure, does not hide it, is part of the feeling and interaction with the environment.
