Could you talk us about the Musée Cantonal des Beaux Arts in Lausanne?

The museum has been one of the most important jobs for us. It came about because we took part in a competition as emerging architects, we were then selected and won. This started long time ago, 8 years to be precise and it is very dear to us because it has put our names on the map and has also generated another project, the Museum in Coira, also in Switzerland. The building is not finished yet, it will be launched in October, but there have already been two open days. This project represents the core of our work. For this assignment, the scope of work was to design the building as well as the new museum district where there will build two more museums.

The project was conceived in such a way so as to serve the city which is very much within our working practices and the idea was for it to mould with the local space alongside the railway and the train depot, and by taking the appearances of a large, abstract and tough container but still harmonious with the area.
