Mario Trimarchi, in this project for Alias, designed objects by imagining architectures.

What about the “Out of scale” series?

Out of Scale is a poetic project made with Alias. It is composed of a series of bronze, cement or wood centerpieces. These generate beautiful shadows and also store fruits in the most appropriate way. We can hang a bunch of grapes on an aluminum pergola and leave it hanging until it is eaten, we can arrange the bananas at the right distance from the apples, and so on.

But Out of Scale tries once again to bring together architecture, sculpture and design; I’m photographing the pieces of the series with very small men next to them because for me they too are small urban-scaled structures. In fact these photos help me to develop the ‘Architetture Omeopatiche’ project which is dissolved into many small and specific operations that serve as a starting point to rebuild the beauty of the outskirts.

The way a Out of Scale object can create a new landscape of the table thanks to its strong poetic presence, perhaps these projects will also be able to initiate the poetry of the places.

Design, sculpture and architecture are of equal importance, despite their differences: designing a small or big object requires the same attention as well as the same kind of silence.
