The Chicago based studio nominomis, unveils their new Mr.Watt lighting object, which just launch on kickstarter . The project explores how objects imitate human emotions and trigger empathy through shapes and material. Reduced to the minimum the design creates a cartoonish appearance with four simple circular and spherical shapes.
Mr.Watt is made of the most natural material there is for a little friend like him – solid wood. Not only is this premium yet sustainable maple species perfect because of its texture and skin-like tone, it’s also so soothing to the touch. Additionally, the subtle differences in the wood grain makes every single one of them unique, just like human beings!
Don’t be fooled by Mr.Watts simple appearance, they’re built with a proven engineering finesse. His eyes are the light source, made with two high-performance LED puck lights.
To help him brighten up your home, simply plug in the adapter on the underside of his head and then gently place it back onto the body. You can then smoothly rotate the head to your preferred position.
Now, he’s ready to go! All you have to do is tap his head to turn on the lights. Tap again to turn the lights off. The capacitive sensor in his head recognizes your touch. That means you only have to touch his wooden head, with no need for twisting, turning, or frantically hunting to find his switch.
Keep it up! Try resting your hand on his head and he will either dim or brighten the lights. He also has a very good memory. When you turn him off and back on, he will remember your previous light setting.
Mr.Watt is designed for so many different interior environments! You can place him anywhere inside and he’ll brighten up your favorite other things or help you see better when reading, working, or relaxing.
